I first started practising auricular (ear) acupuncture in 2002, delivering NADA detox protocol to young people at Birmingham HIAH drug treatment service, whilst in post as Lead Complementary Therapist. Impressed by the speed of parasympathetic activation and humbled by the privilege of being entrusted by often traumatised clients to receive an invasive treatment, my desire to learn new protocols to support the whole system just through microsystem acupoints on the ears has continued under the teaching and supervision of my principle teacher John Tindall, Yuan TCM. Other eminent auricular acupuncture teachers to influence my practice include Terry Oleson, Jong Baik and Amanda Shale.

Twenty years on, I have delivered ear acupuncture within a multitude of settings, reaching those in need of calm and improved health. These include NHS mental health and addiction services, Hepatitis C clinic, criminal justice, corporate, domiciliary, schools, community buses and health promotional events to hundreds of people aged 14-86. Having set up and delivered complementary therapy services within NHS Drug Intervention Programmes for over ten years, I came to supervise ear acupuncturists belonging to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust and Addictions Training Academy.

As an experienced and qualified Specialist Drug and Alcohol Treatment Worker (PG Cert.) and Specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health Teacher, I am able to use my knowledge and experience delivering evidence based psychosocial interventions (like Cognitive Behavioural Approaches (CBA) to combine ear acupuncture protocol to stress and anxiety within the brain and body with evidence based CBA for optimum results.

2023 has brought me full circle. The NADA ear acupuncture protocol I first learnt in 2002 and that ignited my fascination with powerful outcomes of most simple five point ear acupuncture has led me to become a NADA trainer for West Midlands and continue Dr Michael Smith's legacy as pioneer of the spirit of NADA protocol worldwide and continued now by NADA GB.
